1.5 Sirens for the first time

Emily hosted another party, one of epic enjoyment, but before it was over she went into labour. While everyone at the house panicked Emily used her siren for the first time and upon arriving at the hospital gave birth to twin girls. Once Abbey and Baby were tucked into their cotts and with Emily keeping an eye on them Lane headed to the library to continue work on his novel. He found himself playing computer games instead.

With the arrival of the girls came a new routine. Emily would head to the gym, take care of her needs and head back home then Lane would take his turn at the gym. He'd then head into work and at home Emily would invite around a friend to keep her company while she took care of the girls. That night Lane worked late to help with news tips coming over the wire and with the articles making it to the press in time for tomorrow's paper Lane was promoted to freelance writer. So pleased Lane was with his promotion that he was the one to make the moves on Emily when he came home. After some time with Lane, Emily headed out to the library but nothing could hold her attention over her hunger. Meanwhile Lane took care of the girls, both Abbey and Baby loved to play aeroplane.

Somebody high up on the City Hall food chain did something ridiculous at a recent press conference. Unfortunately, nobody caught it on tape, so Lane was asked to go to City Hall to get the facts first hand. Emily took care of the twins, feeding Baby while Abbey rested comfortably, until Lane returned from work when she headed out to the gym. Fiona McIrish passed on and Lane lost his motivation to write a biography on her.

At home Emily painted. Leaning that a senior council member had forgot his name, of all things, earned Lane a small raise. He was promoted to professional blogger but was eager to celebrate the twins' birthday at home, his promotion moving to the back of his mind. Abbey and Baby grew into toddlers, Abbey with the ginger hair of her father and Baby with the black hair of her mother and both with Emily's grey eyes.

Emily spent her day looking after Abbey and Baby as usual, and started to teach Baby how to walk. Thinking on their birthday, Emily decided she wanted another child and when Lane came home he received a very warm welcome. Lane then stayed at home to take care of the girls and put them to bed while Emily worked out at the gym.

Lane headed to the local business office after work to give a presentation on public speaking and conversation skills and at home Abbey found her way outside and loved every minute of rocking back and forth on the grass. Emily's signs of pregnancy were showing but she was still asked to come in to examine some new evidence at the police department. The reception seemed to glow as she walked in and she was reminded how much she enjoyed her job and, of course, Lane put the girls to bed.

Lane was asked to celebrate Connor Frio's promotion and a party was the way to do it. Conner, it turned out, was a loner and was more concerned by Lane dislocating his shoulder than enthused by Lane's Woo! Emily started teaching Abbey how to walk but the toddler looked hurt that her mother was leaving her standing, it seemed such a long way down. Emily asked Geoffrey to give her some indication of the gender of her next child, both she and Lane wanted a boy and that's what Geoffrey said he expected. Lane turned his hand to painting something small, leaving the toddlers to themselves. They really needed to invest in some toys.
